I basically saw this one because I really like what Robert Rodriguez can do behind the camera. Films like Desperado, El Maraichi, and From Dusk Till Dawn really have a great style to them. I also knew that this movie pretty much sucked, but it could have had potential. Well, I was right about the first part. While it did have some pretty decent characters, the movie really can be figured from the following equation. Take the characters from Breakfast Club, monsters from Species, and xenomorphic paranoia from The Thing and you have this movie. There really only are a couple of parts that told me the director had any talent, but it wasnt enough. If the story werent so stereotypical it could have been good. Hell, they even reference the movies they rip off during the film! The DVD has a pretty decent Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack, but not a 16x9 enhanced picture. There are also no extras worth a damn. Frankly, even with a great director like Rodriguez behind it, this movie didnt hold water. Give it a miss.
