I had heard pretty bad things about this one, but overall I want too badly turned away. While it doesnt have the power of some of the better Star Trek movies, it does make for an interesting time. Some of the subplots are not so good, and the special effects are nothing to write home about. There is a notable appearance by F. Murray Abraham of Amadaeus fame. I guess this one would have had more of an interesting edge if the bad guys werent so yucky. The DVD is 16x9 enhanced and contains a Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack with enough LFEs to get my neighbor pounding. There is a making of feature, but no other extras worth mentioning. Overall, I am glad that Paramount started doing 16x9 DVDs, but the movie itself was pretty dwarfed by the fact that I saw Phantom Menace a day earlier.
