They say most of your brain shuts down during cryo-sleep. All but the primitive side, the animal side. No wonder I'm still awake.

For some reason I really expected this movie to suck and maybe that is what saved it. The overall consensus of the reviews I read said it was one to avoid, but I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised. I like underdog science fiction movies, and while this has a lot of typical Hollywood schlock thrown into it, it still has quite a few little gems of good story in it. By far the best thing in it is the prisoner named Riddick played by Blair Witch Project.
The DVD release is very good, with a Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack and a 2.35 to 1 16x9 enhanced picture. There is a special effects feature and two commentary tracks with directors and stars.
I would stick this movie somewhere between Soldier and Cube. It isn't Bladerunner but it surly wasn't as bad as Ebert said it was.
