I know what you're thinking. A movie where Earth gets blown up in the first ten minutes of the movie really can't be that bad, right? Well, it can't be THAT bad, but it might not be that great. After the somewhat disappointing Blade Runner and animate it. It would work perfectly.
The DVD of Titan AE really is worth five stars. It has a Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS soundtrack that will really put your system through it's paces. It has a 16x9 enhanced 2.35 to 1 picture that does wonders for the movie's colorful scenery and characters. There is a documentary, a directors commentary and some other extra features on the disc as well.
I may give the movie a hard time, but it is a step in the right direction. It seems that movie makers still aren't getting the idea that animated movies don't have to be comic, and I was hoping that they would jump a lot farther down this direction than they did. Having some wide scale destruction, and a little blood doesn't necessarily make this not a kids movie. It is a step in the right direction, just a small step.
