I calculated the odds of this succeeding versus the odds I was doing something incredibly stupid... and I went ahead anyway.

MST3K is one of my favorite shows ever since college. All the inside jokes, all the little subtle off stage gags (who can forget "Trumpy you can do magic!"), all of the bizarre old movies. It was genius and unfortunatly gets passed around from station to station and from host to host. Many people quit watching when Joel was replaced by Mike Nelson, and I was one of them, until I realized how funny Mike was. While his style is different, the show kept to the same level. So how does all this relate to MST3K the movie? Well, if you don't like the show, you won't like the movie. While it does start up with some wonderful bits and gives us a look at the satelite of love we never had, the movie is exactly the same as the show. It is a good piece of comedy, but I am glad I didn't pay any real money for it. The show is free and you get the same content. The DVD has a non-anamorphic 2.35 to 1 picture and a Dolby stereo soundtrack. Really, nothing more was needed but some behind the scenes or even a "best of" section was desperatly needed and not included. Overall if you are a fan of the show you will be a fan of the movie. You get exactly that, nothing more and nothing less.
