South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut

But this is going to be the best movie ever! It's a foreign film from Canada.

Yeah, I heard all the hype around this movie when it came out. I heard how it went farther than anyone believed it could go. Then I saw it and was pretty disappointed. Basically what you get is an hour and ten minute musical about fart jokes. I hate musicals. Except for "Who Will Buy?" from Oliver! I have to say that there has been no musical I have ever liked. Basically, musicals are ten minutes of story padded with fifty minutes of singing. Just weak. Anyway, after the fifth song in 20 minutes of South Park, I knew I was in trouble. It doesn't matter if the song is about the F word or if it is a ballad of Satan after he sees the dysfunction in his relationship with Sadaam Hussein. Musicals are musicals. The only amusing thing about this movie is how our audiences acted almost exactly the same way that the audiences in the movie acted. The creators of the movie knew that with the amount of shock in the movie, they could poke fun at the audiences as they watch. Kind of ironic. Still, that doesn't make up for the constant singing and the lame humor. Of course, if you like the TV show, this fits right in. I myself don't, I am more of a Simpsons man. The DVD wasn't bad at all with a great 16x9 enhanced 1.85 to 1 picture and a really explosive Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack. The only extras were trailers which was kind of a disappointment. Overall, not one I can say was a good movie, but I guess it did act as a lightning rod for those who wish to censor movies like this, so that is a good thing. Getting them away from GOOD movies is a honorable act.
