Thunderball may well be the perfect James Bond template. All of the typical Bond stuff is in this film from beginning to end. We get Specter stealing a pair of French nuclear bombs and threatening the world for a huge sum of cash. We get more than our standard quota of women the majority of which are in bikinis throughout the film. We get about half a dozen under water knife fights. We get the wonders of Nassau. We get to see Bond kick some ass at the casino against the eye patched Largo AKA Number Two. It is just pure Bond from beginning to end. I would put it up within the top five Bond movies ever. The DVD is a perfect 2.35 to 1 16x9 enhanced transfer with a Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack. There are two commentary tracks, two documentaries, a featurette and behind the scenes footage. This is the true James Bond movie and thus should be a permanent member of any fans collection.
