There is a defining truth to home theater. Any home theater system is only as good as the movies it shows. It doesn't matter if you have a $200,000 Runco / Meridian system, if you are watching "My Best Friend's Wedding", you've already lost.
This list represents some of the truly great films of our time. Each of these films improved the entire industry. They are each works of art, representing the best in cinematography, acting, sets, costumes, music, story, and writing. Print out a copy of this list and walk through it movie by movie. You will not be disappointed.
The hype factor has been weighted into the factors for determining what movies make the list. A movie has to be greater than the hype for it to be included. For example, Star Wars, Citizen Kane, and Shawshank Redemption are simply as good as people think they are. Everyone knows they are good, there is no use adding them to this list. These movies, however, are greater than people give credit for.
This list is not in any particular order. It would be too difficult to compare The Matrix with Bridge over the River Kwai.

Subject: Top Ten For New Home Theatre Owner
Hi all,
A buddy of mine just bought a great new Home Theater System, he's got a birthday coming up. I'd like to see some suggestions of the best movies for home theater, not necessarily the best written or artistically performed. I want to know the movies that will really take advantage of his system -the can't misses. All suggestions welcome. Thanks in advance! John.

Thank you for not haveing any (or very few, I don't know all of those movies) for no Jhn Wayne movies, he is a horrible actor. He is to qoute Mutabo or how ever you spell the bad guys name in Zoolander "Blue Steal, Magnum, the faces are all the same!" This is exactly like Wayne he does the same terrible role in every movie he is his own steryotype. I'm going off on a tangent, thanks for no John Wayne.

Mike,
I was curious man why you don't have Conan the Barbarian (anniversary edition) listed in your movie menu there. That is the one movie I remember you for when we met at the EQ Fest/'HU get together' in Conroe, Texas. I have watched this edition and a few of 'The Destroyer' many times since then. Have you seen the DVD version of 'Dragonslayer' that came out just recently? I think you will be impressed.
Anyway, drop me a line if you can. Thanks for taking the time, always. Namarie. B. Boyd

Subject: Two Great Films
These are two of my particular favourites.
Betty Blue, a French film directed by Luc Besson just been released on DVD in the States.
The Big Blue, a film about free divers with spectacular underwater shots and great acting from Jean Reno (Leon,Mission Impossible,French Kiss...)
Trust me, watch these and you will not be disappointed.
